Zynga is yet again in hot water, this time over allegedly breaking 4 separate patents owned by IP developer Personalized Media Communications. PMC alleges that Zynga knowingly infringed on “the use of control and information signals embedded in electronic media content to generate output for display that is personalized and relevant to the user.”
The IP developer states that Zynga specifically uses their patented technology in such titles as FarmVille, CityVille and Words with Friends, and that said games use that technology for specific targeted advertising as well as other media related content.
"Many years of time and labor went into developing our inventions and securing the patents that permit their practice,” said PMC founder John Harvey. “It wouldn’t be right to sit by and allow them to be infringed."
PMC filed papers with the US District Court in the Eastern District of Texas. Zynga has not yet immediately responded to the case.
