ZeniMax Devours 'Prey'

Posted September 8, 2009 by James Brightman

2K Games published the Human Head developed Prey back in 2006, garnering fairly solid reviews (a Metacritic of 79). The game wound up selling a million units and a sequel had been announced when the rights were picked up by startup Radar Group, which was founded by 3D Realms veteran Scott Miller in 2007. However, in the months and years following, there's been nothing but silence.

Prey actually utilized a modified version of id Tech 4, and ironically now it would appear that ZeniMax Media (which now owns id) also owns the rights to Prey

An official announcement has not been made yet, but Superannuation has picked up on the July transfer of trademark rights for Prey from Radar Group to ZeniMax. We can only conclude from that trademark transfer that ZeniMax is intent on continuing the franchise. With the talented folks at id and Bethesda now in the mix, we personally are very eager to see what comes of this.
