Posted August 31, 2011 by M.H. Williams

In an interview with Famitsu, Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku and Super Monkey Ball creator Toshihiro Nagoshi has revealed the formation of a brand-new studio, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.  Nagoshi will be joined at the studio by former collaborators Masayoshi Kikuchi, Daisuke Sato, Yojiro Ogawa, and Masayoshi Yokoyama.

If the name hasn’t already spelled it out for you, the studio will be focused on creating new Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku games, though its first title will actually be Binary DomainYakuza 5 for home consoles and Yakuza Black Panther 2 for PSP are also in development at the studio.

The Yakuza series has always had a strong niche fanbase, so someone out there is really excited about this.  Where would a neophyte to the series begin?
