In December, Microsoft announced that its Xbox 360 racer Forza Motorsport 3 had reached the 1 million sales mark. Now, just two months later, Microsoft and developer Turn 10 happily sent word that Forza 3 raced past 2 million units sold worldwide.
In addition to the sales news, Turn 10 also just released two brand new tracks in the downloadable “Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit Track Pack.” The track pack sells for 400 Microsoft Points and offers players a track that "has been meticulously re-created by the team at Turn 10 to reflect the legacy and excitement of the top German grand prix circuit." Two layouts of the well known racing circuit are included: the full 3.22-mile circuit with the famous “Schumacher S” corners, and the short 2.24-mile sprint circuit.
Sony's rival racing sim franchise Gran Turismo passed the 55 million sold mark earlier this week. Of course, Gran Turismo has been around since 1997, while Forza Motorsport was introduced for the first time in 2005.

Definitely not bad but a far cry from any of Sony's individual Gran Turismo titles.

Yeah, I'll bet Microsoft is happy that Gran Turismo 5's release was pushed back - even the glorified demo Gran Turismo 5: Prologue sold nearly 5 million copies. I'd expect GT5 to pass Forza 3 in its first week.
