Update: IndustryGamers has now heard from a Target spokesperson who told us, "Target recently became aware of the mispriced Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Bundle shown on Target.com’s main video game page. The page will be updated shortly to reflect the correct price. We sincerely regret this inconvenience."
While this mistake could be a plain mistake and nothing more, it could also be an employee jumping the gun, accidentally posting a planned price cut too soon. Many analysts we've spoken with have suggested that Microsoft will look to cut price soon, and E3 may be the perfect time to announce it. We'll know next week when Microsoft hosts its press conference on Monday.
Original story:
A new listing from big-box retailer Target indicates that Microsoft’s console and motion controlling set up might be in for a major price cut. The bundle was shown to be listed at $299, a $100 drop.
The Target website showcases the bundle rather prominently, perhaps detailing larger plans in time for E3 by Microsoft. While Microsoft has not said anything official on a full-on price drop around the board, the new listing suggests that they might be working to compete against Nintendo’s recent $50 cut for the Wii.
More news is sure to follow in the week leading up to E3.
