Xbox 360 Tops in Purchase Intent During E3

Posted June 20, 2011 by James Brightman

Xbox 360 has seen plenty of momentum, as NPD noted in its last monthly report that Microsoft's platform has realized nearly a year and a half of  month-over-month unit sales increases. And even during E3, with the spotlight on Nintendo and Wii U and Sony attempting to showcase its new Vita as well as upcoming PS3 games, Microsoft still had the upper hand.

EEDAR's newest retail buyer report points out that Microsoft's console was the top platform among consumer mindshare and purchase intent during the week of E3 2011. This is the second year in a row Xbox 360 has achieved this. More interestingly, despite Nintendo announcing a brand-new system in Wii U, Microsoft's press conference at E3 was actually the most watched.

"Microsoft’s impressive consumer response from their press conference indicates a high level of interest from consumers on Kinect’s integration into core focused titles," EEDAR noted.

The research group also pointed out that the focus on Halo 4 and Halo Anniversary gave Microsoft some added buzz.
