Posted November 12, 2009 by David Radd

Microsoft has proudly declared on more than one occasion that the Xbox 360 is the only home console to see year-on-year growth during 2009 and today they reiterated that to MCV. Additionally, they indicated that the console has surpassed 10 million sales in the EMEA region, comprising Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“Reinventing entertainment through, play, watch, connect and share – this is the vision that we have for Xbox 360 and today that vision is the reality for 10 million Xbox owners," commented Chris Lewis, European Xbox boss. "European consumers are very discerning and demand a connected entertainment experience. That’s why we focused on providing content that is right and relevant for them and entertainment beyond just gaming to movies, music and social networking. We have delivered on this promise and next week will bring real innovation into the living room through instant streaming high definition movies, connecting with friends on Facebook and Twitter and a personalized music channel. Together, this represents a real shift in the way people are entertained every day."

Among the statistics provided, there are now 20 million Xbox Live members worldwide, having downloaded over one billion pieces of content. 35 percent of Xbox 360 users are apparently women, nearly two thirds are over 25 and 60 percent house their Xbox 360s in their living rooms.
