Gears of War 3 is a triple-A title and an Xbox 360 exclusive that many would consider to be a true system seller. Epic's blockbuster conclusion to the Gears trilogy quickly sold 3 million copies, but the game isn't necessarily helping Microsoft to sell more Xbox 360 units, if you ask Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter.
Speaking to IndustryGamers as part of a special post-mortem feature on Gears 3's success, Pachter observed, “It's a great game, the biggest exclusive by far, but it is far from the best selling 360 game. It's also a hard core game, and #3 in the series, so not much of a system seller (the hard core already had 360s and bought Gears 1 and 2). So I don't buy into the argument it helps them compete.”
In the full feature, in addition to other analysts, we also speak with members of Epic Games and Microsoft.

Xbox 360 Sales Not Boosted By Gears 3, says Pachter
