Xbox 360 Now Exclusive Home of Alan Wake; PC Version Canceled

Posted February 12, 2010 by David Radd

While Alan Wake was originally announced for PC and Xbox 360, developer Remedy Entertainment revealed last year that the console version had taken priority and that the decision to bring the game to PC fell to Microsoft. Today, Microsoft rendered their decision and it was a negative one for PC gamers.

No, PC gamers, self-immolation in protest won't do any good.

"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realized that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive," said a Microsoft spokesperson to CVG. "Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform."

Once again, Microsoft is prioritizing their console over the PC and driving another stake into the heart of PC gaming.
