Xbox 360 Games Were Most-Rented, Most-Advertised in 2009

The folks at Rentrak Corporation today announced the top 20 performing video game rentals of 2009 based on consumer spending, as well as the top 20 most-advertised titles of the year. Interestingly, the Xbox 360 was dominant in both of these areas, especially rentals. Xbox 360 titles accounted for 17 of the top 20 rentals, while Microsoft's platform also occupied 9 of the top 20 spots for most-advertised video games. Interestingly, there wasn't a single PS3 game on the rental chart, and the Wii occupied 3 of the top 5 spots on the advertising chart.

The rental chart is ranked according to Home Video Essentials, Rentrak's point-of-sale tracking system, while the advertising chart is based on Rentrak's Video Game Ad Monitor service, an interactive database of advertising circulars from major retailers.
