Microsoft is planning to release Windows 8 later this year and is busy promoting the new, reimagined OS for PC and tablets. Part of this push is the company’s upcoming Windows 8 Consumer Preview, scheduled for release on February 29. Vox Media tech site The Verge has heard from sources close to the platform holder that the Windows Store will be a part of the preview, with a few games coming along for the ride.
Pinball and Solitaire will come pre-installed on the Preview build, while the following titles will be available for an optional download:
- Hydro Thunder
- Toy Soldiers
- Reckless Racing
- Angry Birds
- Ilomilo
- Rocket Riot
- Full House Poker
- Tentacles
- Crash Course
- Ms Splosion Man
- Wordament
Once the Windows Store is fully opened, developers will be able to offer apps and games for free or charge consumers between $1.49 and $999. Microsoft is courting developers quite hard; it will take a 30 percent cut for the first $25,000 in sales revenue, but only a 20 percent cut once that milestone is reached.
