Wii Sports Resort Sells 1 Million, MotionPlus Sells 2 Million in U.S.

Posted August 25, 2009 by James Brightman

Earlier this month we reported that Wii Sports Resort had quickly sold through 500,000 units in the U.S. Today, Nintendo updated its sales figures for the popular title, revealing 1 million in sales here in the U.S. and 1 million sold across the pond in Europe as well. The game also has already broken the million mark in Japan. So as it stands now, Wii Sports Resort has exceeded 3 million in sales worldwide.

Although the game comes packed with one MotionPlus unit, most people who purchase Resort undoubtedly want to play the game with others and therefore have to buy at least one more MotionPlus while they're at the store. Nintendo of America said that 2 million MotionPlus accessories have now been sold in the U.S.

Wii Sports Resort launched back on July 26 in the U.S. It'll be interesting to watch the sales build as we head into the fall and holiday season.
