Wii Sports Resort Hosts 600,000 Europeans

Posted August 7, 2009 by David Radd

Nintendo recently confirmed that Wii Sports Resort has sold over a half million copies in the U.S. in little over a week. Now, GI.biz is reporting that the Wii MotionPlus title has sold over 600,000 copies in Europe since releasing July 24.

Wii Sports Resort has reached the 600,000 sales mark in just under two weeks. Chart Track has reported that it has been the best selling title in the U.K. the past two weeks and is also the fourth best selling title in the region to date. In Japan, the game sold 354,000 units in its first four days, and that number is likely much higher now. All told, Wii Sports Resort is probably over 2 million units worldwide now, although Nintendo has yet to confirm global numbers.

We'd expect sales of Wii Sports Resort to increase near the holidays - get one now if you want it because they'll probably grow very, very scarce later in the year.

I hope so, I had to showcase the game in the shop three weeks ago. The game is an insane amount of fun, but I looked like a complete tit doing the bit in the shop.

I've never felt so ashamed or embarrassed in my entire life from having that much fun in public!

Yeah, Resort is pretty cool. Between that and additional MotionPlus attachment sales, Nintendo is going to make a ton of money.
