Indie music distribution had quite a nice home with the Rock Band Network, but it has been announced by Harmonix that a portion of the Network, the one dedicated to the Wii, will be shut down in the coming week.
Community Manager Aaron Trites told the community that limited demand has forced the closure of the Network on Nintendo's console, and that the Wii had a rather small userbase compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3.
"With the smaller online install base, limited demand for releases so far and the significant amount of work it takes for our producers and audio team to convert and process those additional tracks we're no longer able to continue submitting [Rock Band Network] content to the Wii," said Trites.
Harmonix is releasing one more set of tracks for fans, but after that, only traditional DLC content will be offered for Wii.

Man, for a second I thought they wouldn't be offering anymore DLC period. It's a shame, but not a surprising loss.
