Wii Illuminated by Conduit 2

Posted March 31, 2010 by David Radd

Sega announced today that Conduit 2 is in development today at High Voltage Software for the Wii. Like the original game, the plot of Conduit 2 focus on repelling an alien invasion, with “advanced and powerful weapons” and “giant boss enemies” promised.

Conduit 2 is an enormous sequel,” said Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America. “Not only does it greatly improve and expand on the original, the online and co-op play modes aim to raise the bar for Wii war games.”

Conduit 2 features a new co-op mode called Team Invasion Mode which supports four players online or on a single screen. Additionally, the Wii title will have 12-player online multiplayer, supporting Wii Speak and offering “increased multiplayer security for a better online gameplay experience.”

"The Conduit was the first of many original IPs being developed by our studio." said Kerry J. Ganofsky, CEO and founder of High Voltage Software. "That’s why it gives me great pleasure to announce a sequel with a thrilling and exciting online experience.”

Time to rock the split-screen multiplayer like its Goldeneye 007!

Apparently, Sega can't make up their minds – the Sega West president Mike Hayes originally defended his company's decision to make core Wii titles, though Sega of America studio director Constantine Hantzopoulos later said that the company was “probably not” doing more mature Wii titles and Hayes more recently called MadWorld a “mismatch” for the Wii. Considering, though, that Conduit 2 is set to come out little over a year after The Conduit's release (incredibly short for a modern development cycle) the game's relatively low cost of development probably factored into their green-lighting a sequel.

If there were April 1, it might make more sense...

didnt do as amazing as it was built to...but well enough to warrant a sequel. production cost way less on wii and close to 400,000 copies sold will undoubtedly recoup most of those costs.

As long as 80% of the problems with the original are fixed (the big two being online lag and short campaign), I will be a first-day buyer.

“Conduit 2 is an enormous sequel,” said Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America. “Not only does it GREATLY IMPROVE AND EXPAND UPON THE ORIGINAL, the online and co-op play modes aim to raise the bar for Wii war games.”

the capitalized print is what's gonna sell this sequel.
