Former staff members from the now defunct GRIN studio have announced the formation of a new studio. Labeling the new studio as Whiteout, the team behind the new endeavor has already secured a CryEngine 3 project, and has stated that they will pursue digital markets.
"We've got some very exciting concepts under development," said Whiteout co-founder and former GRIN producer Joel Fagerlund. "We are currently working on a bigger project in CryEngine 3, and thanks to the excellent technology and support from Crytek, we have been able to carefully handcraft a playable prototype that will knock your socks off."
GRIN staff currently with Whiteout were responsible for several Bionic Commando titles, as well as Wanted: Weapons of Fate and Terminator: Salvation. Fagerlund established the new studio with Simon Rodriquez and Konstantin Schutte, formally of virtual worlds developer Metaversum.
"At GRIN, we saw the community's extraordinary response to Bionic Commando: Rearmed," he said. "Couple that with the fact that new releases such as Limbo and Joe Danger have been so well received, we know that the digital marketplace is vibrant and thriving."
Whiteout is the third studio to open out of the ashes of GRIN. Former staffers went on to form Outbreak Studios as well as Might and Delight.
