West/Zampella Trial Begins In May

Posted September 12, 2011 by M.H. Williams

The lawsuit first filed in March of 2010 by Infinity Ward co-founder Jason West and Vince Zampella will soon begin in earnest.  The duo’s lawsuit against Activision will proceed to trial on May 7, 2012.  West and Zampella accused Activision of withholding royalties owed from the sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

“I’m really looking forward to having our day in Court,” Zampella told Forbes.

West and Zampella are seeking an annulment of their original contract and financial damages.  The annulment would mean the pair would co-own the Modern Warfare brand with Activision.

Activision has since counter-sued both gentlemen, who later founded Respawn Entertainment, and their new publishing partner, Electronic Arts.  Activision claims that EA worked behind the scenes to hijack the pair and other Infinity Ward employees.  The publisher is looking for $400 million in damages.

Let’s get ready to rumble!
