Uncharted 2 Gets 'Unprecedented' 15 Nominations for Interactive Achievement Awards

Posted January 21, 2010 by James Brightman

Earlier this week, the nominations for the Game Developers Choice Awards were unveiled, and Uncharted 2 earned 7 nominations. Today, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) announced the finalists for the peer-based 13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, and Naughty Dog's PS3 action-adventure title once again stole the spotlight. The game earned an "unprecedented" 15 nominations, including Overall Game of the Year and Adventure Game of the Year.

Several other games have been given multiple nods as well, including Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed II (a very solid 10 nominations), Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (9 nominations), Eidos' and WBIE's Batman: Arkham Asylum (8 nominations), Sony's Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time (4 nominations) and EA's Brutal Legend (4 nominations).

The awards ceremony will take place during the D.I.C.E. Summit 2010, on February 18 at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas. Comedian, actor and game enthusiast Jay Mohr will return as host once again (his fifth year).

"The experiences that today's games offer certainly explains why consumers of all ages are spending greater amounts of time in these fantastic worlds," said Joseph Olin, president, AIAS.  "This year's crop of finalists demonstrates the craft and talent of the Academy's members and their continued quest to create new worlds to explore."
