Ubisoft has apologized to players for leaving them without their rightfully-purchased games during a server migration. The problem has arisen because Ubisoft’s DRM-of-choice requires a consistent connection to Ubisoft’s servers, even for a single-player title. With the publisher moving their servers, this meant many titles for PC and Mac would also be experiencing downtime.
Ubisoft warned players that many titles for PC would be dropping completely during the maintenance, including Tom Clancy's HAWX 2, Might & Magic: Heroes 6, and The Settlers 7; Mac users would be losing access to Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell Conviction and The Settlers. Unfortunately, some players have reported having trouble playing recent releases like Driver: San Francisco and Anno 2070, games that were supposed to be unaffected.
“We apologize for the inconvenience, it seems some of you can't connect to games announced as playable during migration,” the publisher said in a tweet. “We're on it and will keep you posted here!”
Is it worth it, Ubisoft?
