While some bands dismiss the music gaming trend, others are quickly jumping on the bandwagon after the successful launch of The Beatles: Rock Band. U2, while apparently unable to work out a deal before with MTV for participation in the Rock Band franchise, is now reconsidering their stance.
“We definitely would like to be in there, but we felt some of the compromises weren’t what we wanted,” said Adam Clayton to USA Today. “That could change. I love the idea that that’s where people are getting music, and we’d love to be in that world. We’ll figure something out. What The Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we’re interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation. We didn’t want to be caricatured.”
We're glad to see that more bands are warming up to music games, but we're not quite sure that U2 are quite the same caliber as The Beatles. Still, they're currently playing a series of popular concerts in the U.S., so the timing might be right.
