Yesterday, Southpeak Interactive delayed Two Worlds II in North America. The title, originally scheduled to launch in October, was pushed back to January of 2011 with Southpeak citing "additional polish" as the reason for the delay. The co-developer of the Two Worlds sequel, TopWare Interactive, decided to set the record straight on the delay. TopWare managing director James Seaman told GameSpot that the game was already done and instead being delayed to avoid the crowded holiday season.
"Truth be told, fans only have so much time to spend playing these content-rich games, and there were concerns our title could potentially be lost in the fanfare," Seaman said. "Our publishing partner SouthPeak, to their credit, has acknowledged this fact and made an adjustment, postponing their launch of Two Worlds II into early 2011."
Seaman said Southpeak’s statement was “factually incorrect,” with all production and localization having been finished in the middle of September. He also said all Two Worlds II launches would contain the same release, with the only additional content for the North American launch being any patches released in the interim. Core Two Worlds II developer Reality Pump is already at work on possible downloadable content.
Sometimes marketing gets a bit ahead of itself, it seems.
