Twitter Invades World of Warcraft, Champions Online

Posted July 3, 2009 by David Radd

Twitter's rise in use has been meteoric over the past several months, with even IndustryGamers getting in on the act. Now, World of Warcraft will incorporate the feature with TweetCraft, which will include the ability send and receive Tweets in game, AutoTweet after certain events, and upload screenshots using TwitPic.

Additionally, Twitter was added to the beta test of Champions Online. "We’re really excited to get in-game tweet testing out to our beta players," read a dev blog post for Champions Online. "This feature is in initial testing stages and will most likely have issues. Beta players, please keep in mind that you are still under an NDA while testing this feature! For more information on how it works, check this week’s patch notes."

While Twitter seems to be one of those services that annoys as many people as it attracts, the user-driven site is truly making the most of its (potentially) 15-minutes of Internet fame.
