Twisted Metal Delayed to 2012

Posted August 5, 2011 by Ben Strauss

It has been a long time since the last Twisted Metal saw the light of gaming consoles, and today’s news means that time is getting even longer.  Eat Sleep Play co-founder David Jaffe had to relate today that the next game in the series will have to be pushed back from October 4 to sometime in ‘early 2012.’

"Ugh! I know, I know. A lot of dedicated, supportive, passionate Twisted Metal fans have been waiting for the return of Calypso's demented contest for a long time but the truth is: we're just not ready yet," wrote Jaffe on the PlayStation Blog.

"Sony has been -- and remains -- a super supportive champion and collaborator on this title and all of us at Eat Sleep Play are so grateful that their patience and generosity will allow us the extra time needed to polish our demented baby until it shines.”

On the plus side, attendees of both GamesCom and PAX will have a chance to check the game out, as Jaffe confirmed the game would still be making a showing.

Jaffe swears that the extra time is going to mean all the world for the title, indicating that the gamer inside of him is frustrated, but hopeful.   “It’s disappointing and frustrating and it really takes the wind out of your sails if you’re a fan that has been looking forward to playing a title for a long time.

“Thing is, you gotta trust me when I tell you that – with this extra time for tuning and polish - the game is going to be so much better than it already is.”
