The announced delay by Eat Sleep Play boss David Jaffe has put many fans of the Twisted Metal series down in the dumps, but all is not lost claims Jaffe. The delay to 2012 will not only help polish the title even more, but it will be packed with quality content that justifies the continued $60 price point of the game.
“Any money is a lot to ask from someone for entertainment. 60 bucks is a sh*t ton to ask for so if we are going to charge that, you deserve our best,” says Jaffe. “Even if it takes a little longer than we anticipated.”
Twisted Metal has been pushed back for a multitude of reasons - the primary ones being the target window of Nov-Dec would put the game in a very competitive market. Other problems were also occurring in balancing issues on boss fights, respawn methods and the XP system.
Jaffe went on to list in detail a goodly amount of specific issues, assuring fans that there was a bit of work still to be done. However, Jaffe conjures up the thought that shipping the game in its current state would not be beneficial.
“So imagine about 250 of those sorts of things. Could we ship without changing a single one? Totally and it would still be a really fun game. But it would not be good enough for us. And certainly not for you.”
Twisted Metal is due out in early 2012.
