Twilight Game 'Could Easily Present a Seven-Figure Opportunity,' says Analyst

Posted March 19, 2010 by David Radd

Twilight is one of the hottest properties in pop culture, including two blockbuster movies and four books that found their way to the top of best-seller lists. There hasn't been a Twilight game, however, and Games Investor Consulting analyst Nick Gibson says it is a lost opportunity.

"Given how hot a property it is, [a Twilight video game] could easily present a seven-figure exploitation opportunity, especially if publishers consider taking it beyond retail gaming and considers network gaming," said Gibson to MCV magazine [thanks Edge]. "It may well be that the rights holders aren't aware of the potential benefits because they haven't explored the games market before."

Twilight, being more about drama and less about action (especially early on in the series) doesn't necessarily lend itself to most sorts of game genres, but we're sure there's something out there that could interest the millions of girls and women that make up the series' fan base.

David Radd has worked as a gaming journalist since 2004 at sites such as GamerFeed, Gigex and GameDaily Biz.

This game would have to be marketed strictly to teenage girls in order for it to succeed. And by that I mean: "Twilight: The Mall Shopping Game".

Twilight Saga should not be made into a game. It would flop, as do most movie to videogame series do.

I like all most games. Something new and interesting to play. With the release of Mega Man 10 slated for later this month on PSN and XBL, expect the DLC releases on those systems to be pushed back a bit as well.online fax

Clans are generally a group of gamers who play together as a team against other clans. They are most commonly found in online multi-player games in which one team can face off against another. online fax

My archaic idea of a good headline is one that at least makes a passing attempt to be clever or accurate or ethical. This is, of course, wrong and stupid.
