At Giant Bomb’s Big Live Live Show Live!, Brad Muir and Greg Rice of Double Fine Productions announced that the studio’s recently released title, Trenched, would now be known as the studio’s recently released title, Iron Brigade. The change was made to avoid a legal battle in Europe over the original name, which is currently held by the board game Trench. The owner said they intend to develop a game out of the property and Double Fine’s game would confuse consumers.
The game has released in other regions and Microsoft revealed at Gamescom that the Iron Brigade title would be used for the European release, but Double Fine has decided to make that name the official title worldwide.
Those who have purchased Trenched already will receive an update that’ll change the game’s title. Players still sporting the Trenched moniker on their copies will be unable to play with those using the new name. The update will also include a new survival mode, new weapons, new costumes, and more.
