Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD Announced

Posted December 10, 2011 by Ben Strauss

Even though Activision ‘officially’ shuttered the Tony Hawk franchise late last year, the legendary skater has another shot at gaming fame with an HD rework of the original titles for the series.  The new game is expected to include parts of the first two titles in the franchise and offer a complete HD tune-up.

The news confirms earlier rumors that the series was making something of a comeback, thanks to Tony Hawk teasing the possibility on his Twitter account earlier in the week.

Speaking to Joystiq at Spike’s VGAs, Tony Hawk revealed that several venerable levels from the first game are getting a remastered appearance, all in an effort to launch a new title straight to “digital platforms” for the first half of 2012.  Thus far, a developer has not been named, and only that the game is getting a downloadable release treatment over a physical one.
