Tony Hawk Could Have New Game

Posted December 7, 2011 by Ben Strauss

It seems that the Activision-killed Tony Hawk franchise might not be completely dead just yet.  A tweet from the skateboarding icon has indicated that there might just be life in the series.

"I'll be announcing the upcoming release of something new on Sat; the same day as the Spike Video Game Awards," Pro skateboarder Tony Hawk wrote on Twitter. "Coincidence? I think not."

Tony Hawk titles began to see a major dip in popularity after releases went to a yearly schedule.  2011 was the first year in which no Tony Hawk game was released since Tony Hawk Pro Skater in 1999.  The final game in the franchise, Shred, was only able to garner 3,000 units sold for first week sales.
