Tokyo Game Show Attendance Lowest in Four Years

Posted September 28, 2009 by David Radd

Kotaku is reporting that attendance at the Tokyo Game Show was 185,030 people over the four-day period. This number is a drop off from the 194,288 attenedees from last year and is the lowest total for the event since 2005.

A likely cause of this drop off is the decreased attendance by companies in the industry. Large areas of the Makuhari Messe convention center were closed off and more exhibits that were not strictly video game related appeared.

It seems as though the numbers back up Keiji Inafune's stark evaluation of the Japanese gaming industry.
