THQ Licenses Emergent's Gamebyro Lightspeed

Posted August 9, 2010 by M.H. Williams

Today, Emergent Game Technologies announced a multi-platform licensing agreement with THQ. THQ will be using Emergent’s Gamebryo LightSpeed engine to power an undisclosed number of future titles. This builds on the previous master licensing agreement signed in June of 2009, allowing THQ to use Emergent’s development suite, including Gamebryo and Gamebryo LightSpeed.

Gamebryo LightSpeed is Emergent’s “newest leap forward in game development technology delivering the only professional technology for start-to-finish multi-genre/multi-platform game development.” The engine allows studios to quickly create and implement single-player and multi-player titles in a variety of genres. In addition, the toolset is cross-platform, helping developers port titles quickly across multiple systems including Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii.
