THQ Integrates Online Publishing and Development Houses With New Promotion

Posted June 10, 2010 by M.H. Williams

Today, THQ announced the promotion of Martin Good to the position of Executive Vice President of Kids, Family, Casual Games, and Global Online Services. In his new post, he will report directly to THQ President Brian Farrell. THQ also announced the merger of its Online Business unit with its Core Games and Kids, Family, Casual Games branches. Good will also take over Online Services, which is meant to provide the delivery of online titles across both business units.

"Martin's leadership and experience uniquely qualify him to lead our Kids, Family, Casual Games Business Unit, while continuing his role in driving our online operations,” said Farrell in a statement.

"Online and digital represents our industry's largest growth opportunity and it is imperative that we integrate digital and online game strategies into all of our key franchise plans. Now that we have momentum in our online pipeline, this is a natural evolution of our organizational structure, putting the leaders of our two product-focused business units in charge of development across all platforms. The company will now be organized in two clear business units and we are aggressively creating content to be delivered to gamers in all possible formats."

Good continues his ten-year tenure at THQ, having most recently served as Senior Vice President of THQ Asia Pacific and Global Online Publishing. During that time, he established THQ's direct publishing operation in Korea, China, Japan, and Australia. Online is his specialty, having overseen THQ’s entry into the Asian MMO market.

"I am very excited to lead the THQ Kids, Family, Casual Games Business Unit. This is a vibrant product category and I am excited about our robust pipeline and partnerships. In addition, I look forward to leveraging my Asia online gaming experience to run the operations for online games across the company,” said Good.

In other changes, Steve Dauterman has shifted over to become Senior Vice President of Core Games Product Development. He will report to Danny Bilson, Executive Vice President of Core Games. His role will be overseeing online game development with THQ’s Core Games unit. THQ’s stable of online title continues to grow, including Company of Heroes Online, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw Online, and the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 MMO.

Additionally, Rodney Block has been named Managing Director of Asia Pacific and will oversee THQ’s publishing operation in that region, while Doug Clemmer has resigned his position, but will remain with THQ through the transition period ending in August.
