THQ Implementing Single-Use Code With Smackdown vs. Raw 2011

Posted August 19, 2010 by Ben Strauss

The next Smackdown vs. Raw game will implement a system not unlike EA’s online pass. THQ has announced that a single use code will need to be inputted  to enable online multiplayer and other premium content features.

Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will both require the code to enable online features. Free access to the game’s first DLC pack will add Chris Masters to the game’s roster, with costumes for various characters also being provided. These features will cost $9.99 for anyone that picks up a used copy of the game. This is yet another example of publishers trying to combat the impact of used games on their business.

WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 is set for release on October 26 for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PSP and Wii.

What I want to know is why the Wii versions don't have these codes? Are they not online enabled? Or will there not be a Wii version of SDVR11?

And that seals it even more. I will definitely not be buying this game.

The Wii version is online THE 1 2 P. I don't know why, but EA is not making Wii owners use codes for their games either.

My boycott will continue for this game too. I refuse to buy any game that requires a code to get access stuff that should be open to everyone (and for the same price). Didn't THQ get the point when UFC 2010 vastly undersold? It was because you had to enter a code to play it online, and I know other people who refused to buy the game for the same reason. THQ, Electronic Arts, and other companies need to realize this is a stupid idea.
