Tecmo Adds Move Support for Ninja Gaiden 3, Remains Mum on Kinect

Posted August 17, 2011 by James Brightman

Tecmo yesterday announced support for PlayStation Move in the upcoming NInja Gaiden 3. Using the Move controller will "give players a new visceral edge when battling and slicing through their enemy’s flesh and bone." Interestingly, while Team Ninja is making the game for Xbox 360 as well, there was no mention of Kinect along with Move support.

Microsoft is clearly trying to bring more hardcore gaming experiences to Kinect and you'd think that a mature title like Ninja Gaiden would be a nice fit. Fruit Ninja on Kinect is great, but core gamers probably wouldn't mind playing as a real ninja with Kinect. A Tecmo spokesperson told IndustryGamers that "as of now" there's no announcement pertaining to Kinect.

Team Ninja's Yosuke Hayashi had this to say about adding in Move support: “Ninja Gaiden 3 is all about slicing and chopping through flesh and bone and PlayStation Move bring players even closer to the game’s protagonist Ryu Hayabusa.  The game will be compatible with all Move peripherals and it will feature full compatibility with this exciting new hardware.”

The game will ship in "early 2012" on PS3 and 360.
