Super Street Fighter IV Ships 1 Million Copies

Posted April 30, 2010 by James Brightman

Japanese publisher Capcom today announced that its Super Street Fighter IV, a sort of director's cut that just launched this week, has already shipped one million copies across the globe. The game features new characters, new alternate costumes and a Replay Channel, which enables players to upload and view replays of previous fights.

The entire Street Fighter franchise on home consoles has shipped over 28 million units worldwide as of March 31, which means that figure doesn't include the just released Super Street Fighter IV.

The newest Street Fighter benefited from a bargain price of just $39.99 as well as a unique and creative marketing approach, as detailed in this [a]listdaily feature on the promotional campaign's evolution.
