Steve Jobs Dies At Age 56

Posted October 5, 2011 by Steve Peterson

The Apple web site has just posted that Steve Jobs passed away today at the age of 56. Jobs had just recently stepped down from his position at Apple in August, naming Tim Cook as his replacement.

Jobs' influence on the game industry was enormous. The Apple II computer created the computer game industry in the 1980s, and later the advent of the iPhone in 2007 transformed the electronic gaming industry yet again as mobile games became a large and rapidly-growing category. Some would say he's the "Henry Ford of the computer industry." He will be missed.

Steve Peterson has been in the game business for 30 years now, as a designer (co-designer of the Champions RPG among others) and a marketer (for various software companies), and a lecturer.
