The new World of Warcraft expansion titled Cataclysm is definitely the largest announcement from BlizzCon 2009, but other revelations were made about the company's major franchises. StarCraft II, it was revealed, will start its multiplayer beta testing in 2009, while the game will ship in 2010.
"I'm confident the beta will start this year," Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime told BlizzCon Live Stream host Geoff Keighley [thanks Shack News]. "We don't have a date yet, but that is a focus--we're working on getting the beta ready. We don't want to put it out too early."
However, while StarCraft II and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm are expected to come out in 2010 (the former early in the year and the latter at the tail end) Diablo III will apparently release in 2011 at the earliest.
