During a conference call following the lowering of full-year guidance, Electronic Arts confirmed with analysts that it's likely not going to release BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic during the 2011 fiscal year. At the same time, CEO John Riccitiello said that EA is planning to ship a "major MMO" during Spring 2011, so we can probably pencil in The Old Republic for then.
For the upcoming fiscal year starting April 1, Riccitiello also promised "a great new version of Medal of Honor, a revitalized Need for Speed, Sims on console, FIFA in a World Cup year, an innovative and new take on Madden, Dead Space 2, Crysis...an MMA game, and many others."
Furthermore, according to Lazard Capital Markets' Colin Sebastian, EA said that pre-orders for the soon-to-be-released Mass Effect 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 are "healthy." Even so, Sebastian commented, "While several of these titles should garner high quality scores, we note that consumer hesitation to purchase games at premium price points could limit sell-through."
