The underground hit franchise STALKER had some bad news late last year, after the company developing the game was forced to announce their abandoning of the planned sequel. This news was further compounded by the revelation that the studio might even shut down. Developer GSC Game World has now announced that the loss of the title might be avoided, should funding be injected.
Speaking on the official STALKER Facebook account, GSC’s Oleg Yavorsky confirmed that development was indeed ongoing. "The Stalker team is extremely happy! Why? Because we are continuing work on STALKER 2 after the holidays." GSC spokesperson Oleg Yavorsky later told Edge-Online, "We are still in the process of seeking funding to back up the project.
“We are hopeful things turn out well eventually. The team really wants to see STALKER continue."
