Square Enix Says Member Info 'Not Compromised' in Breach

Posted December 21, 2011 by M.H. Williams

According to Square Enix, no personal member data was compromised in the recent hack on their servers.  At the time, the company thought that around 1.8 million accounts may have been comprised, but after an internal investigation it has concluded that is not the case.  Square Enix expects to have the member services back up by the end of December.

“As a result of our continuing investigation, we have now confirmed that the database in which we store personal information was NOT accessed during the recent server intrusion. Therefore, your personal information was not compromised by an unknown third party,” read the company’s statement.
