With the release of Dragon Quest IX in Japan, it's been a good year so far for Square Enix Holdings. Still, Andriasang is reporting while the company is raising its April 1 - September 30 sales estimates from 90 billion yen ($982 million) to 90.5 billion yen ($988 million), it has also lowered its net earnings forecasts from 7.5 billion yen ($82 million) to 2.6 billion yen ($28 million).
The company attributes these lowered estimates to the purchase of Eidos in addition to 2 billion yen ($22 million) spent on severance packages at both Square Enix and Taito. As such, the company has lowered its earnings for the whole year down to 10 billion yen ($109 million) from the original forecast of 15 billion yen ($163 million) , with sales and operating income forecasts remaining unchanged.
