Stronghold, first published in 2001, has long been regarded as a successful and respectable representation of the RTS genre. The franchise has sold over five million units globally. SouthPeak studios announced today that they have acquired the rights to publish the PC game, and have assured that Stronghold 3 will retain the elements that first made the game famous. With an improved graphics engine and enhanced gameplay elements, the publisher is confident that fans will see this game as a true successor to the Stronghold franchise.

"Publishing the newest sequel to the popular Stronghold franchise provides additional visibility to our brand and robust portfolio of games. With a strong built-in user base, we believe the enhancements incorporated into this sequel will drive further growth for the franchise, enhance our revenue stream through traditional retail sales, as well as significantly strengthen our digital offering where there remains tremendous growth opportunity."
SouthPeak's reported financial troubles earlier this year seem to have abated somewhat, and after a shaky lawsuit with Paradox Studios, SouthPeak has moved swiftly back into an operating capability. This signing of Stronghold is certainly a positive sign.
