South Park RPG Coming from Obsidian Entertainment

Posted December 1, 2011 by Ben Strauss

Update: THQ just sent word that they've teamed with Obsidian to publish the game. “Our goal is simple: to put creative talent first,” said Danny Bilson, EVP Core Games, THQ. “Matt and Trey are arguably two of the most important comedic talents of their generation. Bringing their vision of South Park to the interactive space is a dream-come-true.”

Original story:

The newest Game Informer has revealed a big title coming out in the near future, a South Park RPG.  The big news is that series creators Matt Parker and Trey Stone with be working heavily to ensure that the game is as close to the show as possible.  Obsidian Entertainment will be bringing the game to reality, and with a strong lineup of past work, the title is sure to make an impact.

Nothing much has really been revealed about the title, other than the fact that the game will allow players to start as a ‘new kid in town’ who will become intertwined with the events that happen in South Park.  Parker and Stone will be doing much of the voice work for the game, as they do with the show.

Obsidian has revealed that it will be a full-on AAA title, set for release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime next year.
