Sony Wants You to Slurp Kratos

Posted January 29, 2010 by James Brightman

With God of War III officially shipping on March 16, the much anticipated release is just about a month and a half away. The hype is starting to build, and you can bet that Sony will do everything it can to capitalize on this hugely important franchise. Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America announced a partnership with 7-Eleven and Mountain Dew to introduce "Kratos Fury," a custom-themed God of War-flavored Slurpee drink and a series of four exclusive Slurpee cups showcasing God of War artwork.

Mmm, mmm, good... you can taste the wrath of the gods already

The promotion starts on February 1 and runs through March 31 at select 7-Eleven locations. So what does Kratos taste like?  Apparently, the drink is some combination of blackberry and lime. With each Slurpee purchased, fans will get codes to redeem at Slurpee.com for other God of War and Slurpee-themed content, including:

  • A behind-the-scenes video, developed by Sony Computer Entertainment’s Santa Monica Studios exclusively for 7-Eleven, that takes you through the mythos and development of creating the Chimera character – the three-headed beast seen in the God of War III demo.
  • Exclusive armor for Kratos called Morpheus, which unlocks once you’ve played through God of War III
  • A dynamic theme for the PlayStation 3 system that features Kratos’ animated face.  A static theme will also be available.
  • Kratos-themed wallpapers for PCs
  • God of War- or 7-Eleven-themed PlayStation Home t-shirts or Slurpee-themed hoodies available for both males and females

Sony also reminded everyone that Slurpee drinkers can take the opportunity to pre-order a copy of God of War III at the 7-Eleven store. Those who do will receive a free God of War III poster at participating stores. Pictures of the other promotional items can be seen at the PlayStation.blog.
