Sony Unified Network Platform Unveiled

Posted January 7, 2010 by David Radd

Sony's press conference for CES 2010 [thanks Kotaku] given by Sony Computer Entertainment President and CEO Kaz Hirai was all about the PlayStation Network. The executive revealed firm plans for the long talked about unified PSN across devices like PCs, network enabled Blu-ray players and Sony Bravia televisions along with PS3s and PSPs. Using a singular account for all of these platforms, users will be able to sign in and purchase content starting in February.

Additionally, Hirai announced the creation of a studio to create content for this new expanded PSN. Called Sony Network Entertainment, Hirai himself will head up this development studio.
