Sony PS Vita Data Plans Confirm No Contract, Two Offerings

Posted January 9, 2012 by Ben Strauss

The upcoming launch of the Sony PlayStation Vita in the US will bring about a multi-faceted platform that will also offer a seemingly flexible data plan.  The Vita 3G version will offer two options with $14.99 a month garnering 250MBs and $25 pushing to 2GB. A full AT&T data contract will not be required though. The plans were unveiled at CES during a presentation by AT&T.

The Vita, which launches February 22, will be sold in  two versions, starting at $249 for a Wi-Fi capable version and at $299 for the full 3G capable device. The data plans ring in close to what is offered for smartphone data plans, with $15 netting 200MB and $25 for 2GB.

The news also confirms previous reports from earlier in the week.
