Sony Planning More PS2 HD Collections

Posted June 28, 2010 by M.H. Williams

Sony’s God of War Collection was among the top 20 highest-selling console games during its launch month of November 2009. The collection contained the first two God of War games remastered in HD for play on the PlayStation 3. This November will see the release of the Sly Cooper Collection, featuring all three Sly Cooper games remastered in HD, with additional modes for PlayStation Move and 3D support.

In an interview with IGN, SCE Worldwide President Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that the company was planning more HD collections. "Santa Monica Studios had the brilliant idea to upgrade and improve God of War for PS3 with the God of War Collection that we released last year," he said. "There were a lot of positive reactions from consumers in doing that, and now we get a lot of suggestions for types of packs they'd like to see."

"So we are looking to continue to do these HD conversions," he added. "We are looking into ways how we can deliver the PS2 library to PS3 consumers, but we are not ready to announce anything yet."

Are there digital downloadable HD remasters in our future? Will we see the long-rumored Team ICO HD Collection with ICO and Shadow of the Colossus? Only time and Sony will tell.

Well, here's to someone who wouldn't mind a Jak and Daxter, Rachet and Clank, or Team ICO collection. Oh and Sony/Capcom, how about that Onimusha collection?
