Sony Including God of War III Demo in God of War Collection

Posted September 23, 2009 by James Brightman

Sony has a number of hot franchises (Uncharted, Killzone, LittleBigPlanet), but God of War is arguably the biggest of them all. Sony is already leveraging the property with some extensive merchandising, and more recently the company announced a special Blu-ray collection for the first two God of War games.

Many fans already want to pick up this collection in November because it has two amazing games for $39.99, which have been remastered with 720p visuals and anti-aliasing, but Sony just did something to entice fans even more. In a wise marketing move, Sony is including the full E3 God of War III demo in the collection, months in advance of God of War III's March 2010 release. According to the PlayStation.blog, each copy of God of War Collection will include a voucher code that can be redeemed through the PlayStation Network.

Not only does this help build buzz around what's sure to be a blockbuster release in God of War III, but it's likely to boost sales of God of War Collection as well. The collection seems like a good value, but we can't help but wonder what could have been if Sony had been able to launch God of War III in time for this holiday season. When combined with the $299 sale surge, that would have been a fierce one-two punch.
