Sony Confirms Digital Vita Game Purchases Will be Cheaper

Posted January 31, 2012 by Ben Strauss

The PS Vita is going to be pushing hard to promote digital distribution of titles, and that means discounts for those who purchase through the PSN.  A Sony representative has confirmed that, “Yes... there will be a discount on the downloadable PS Vita titles from PSN.  Exact details have not yet been revealed, but be on the lookout for an announcement in the near future.”

Originally spotted by NeoGAF users, it was found that ‘DIG-PSV’ titles would be selling for around 10% cheaper than physical copies of games being offered on the Vita.  The discount has already been confirmed for Japan, but now Sony has made it official for other territories.

It's a good tactic to encourage digital game downloads without forcing it on people as the only option, as Sony did with the PSPgo.
