Posted January 28, 2011 by Ben Strauss

The big press conference has everyone all abuzz with news and information about the new NGP, but Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai offered up some big numbers on how the current PlayStation Network is doing.

According to the latest data on January 25, the PSN has a total of 69 million accounts. This number is up from 60 million announced by Sony just a few weeks ago. To top that, Hirai stated, “more than 80% of the PS3 consoles are connected to the internet.”

With all of those accounts online, there has been a large amount of data downloaded from thePSN - 1.4 billion downloads to be precise.

Now, with the announcement of the PlayStation Suite and Android gaming support, Sony is aiming to make its PlayStation offerings even more ubiquitous.
