The announcement of Sonic 4 Episode 1 sent waves of jubilation around the gaming industry, with many hoping that the game will live up to the series' storied roots. While the first “true” sequel to Sonic 3 is certainly something to celebrate, reports started to circulate that it was not technically the first game to carry the title Sonic 4... in fact, pirates created a Sonic 4 for SNES, a Sonic 3D Blast 5 for NES and a Sonic 6 and Sonic Adventure 7 for GameBoy.
